Meet our team

Ken is a Jersey boy but relocated to SC in 1978. After spending a number of years in new car dealer service departments he set out on his own. In 1986 he opened his first auto repair shop in the North Hills section of Greenville, SC, hence the company name, North Hills Automotive, Inc. Ken and wife Lauren were married in 1975 and have 4 adult children, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law and 5 grandchildren. When Ken is not at the office he is reading, gardening, fishing or relaxing with the family. Ken and Lauren are members of Greenville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where Lauren serves in the nursery and Ken teaches an adult Sunday school class. The couple love being at the beach enjoying family and the ocean together!

Jacob is the son of company president Ken Gamble, a guy Ken wishes he could clone!

Having strong leadership skills and a tenacity that won’t quit, Jacob makes it happen and is especially gifted with people skills. Jacob graduated from Winthrop University in 2002 with a Business Marketing degree and immediately put his education and people skills to work. Jacob started working at North Hills Automotive at the age of 15, so assuming the role of Service Manager was no problem.

Married to Carrie, and having two children, Jack and Ella, the couple isn’t just like family, they are family. Jacob and Carrie are members of Greenville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where the two are involved in various ministries. It is no secret that Jacob was born to fish — offshore fishing is not only his hobby but also his passion. It’s no wonder then that Mahi-Mahi is his favorite menu item and that fishing in Australia would be his dream vacation.

Rob is the youngest son of company president Ken Gamble. He grew up in the shop and started learning the basics at a young age. Rob graduated from the University of South Carolina, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Advertising. Rob enjoys Gamecock football on fall Saturdays and offshore fishing with his dad and brother during the spring and summer.

Joey joined the North Hills team in 2003 where he has been a steady team player. Speaking of teams; University of Alabama football is high on his list of “most favorite things”! Joey was born in Tchula, MS. but grew up in Southern California. He is married to Rhonda and the couple is raising 5 children — 4 boys and a girl! Joey does get a little free time (occasionally) and enjoys 4 wheeling and serving as a deacon at Covenant Community Orthodox Presbyterian Church where the family holds its membership. Joey received his BS in Business Management in 2014. Joey and Rhonda love to take the family camping and spending time in the outdoors. It is Joey’s smiling face that you’ll see first when entering our E. Butler Rd Service Center, always ready to go out of his way to help others.

Jay earned his BA in History from the University of South Carolina and began work at North Hills upon graduation in 2002. Jay is from Spartanburg, SC. He and his wife Amanda have two children (Ellie and James) and are members of First Baptist Church Spartanburg. Jay loves to play golf and, besides spending time with his family, enjoys hunting and fishing. Jay loves Mexican food and dreams of fishing the waters off of Belize someday. His vast knowledge of procuring auto parts is a major benefit to having this seasoned veteran on the North Hills team.

Steven handles Accounts Payable, Auto Sales transactions and and Office Administration. Steven joined the North Hills team in 2014 and is married to Sarah with one daughter McKenna. Steven and Sarah are members of Greenville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where they teach Sunday school and assist in other church ministries. Steven enjoys reading and writing and the occasional round of golf. Hunting and fishing are among his favorite hobbies. No wonder Steven says, “I would love to go salmon fishing in Alaska someday!” Professionally, Steven has been a great addition to our corporate office and is always finding ways to make us more efficient and helping out wherever needed.

Lauren joined the North Hills team in 2017 where she is the controller. Lauren is married to Avery Canady and has two children, Avery and Preston. Lauren is from Greenville, SC and enjoys volunteering at the Greenville Humane Society when she can. She enjoys exercising and running as well as sitting down with a good book. Lauren puts family first and says that her dream vacation would be anywhere with her family, where she can relax while being in the outdoors.

Dennis and his wife “Kandy” are from Fairlawn, NJ. He earned a B.S in Engineering and after a long career in Automotive Manufacturing Management (35 years) and Real Estate Sales (10 years) and retiring to South Carolina, Dennis is now enjoying his time as our Customer Shuttle Driver. Dennis makes a great conversationalist while driving customers to their destinations. His love for people is demonstrated in his involvement with Brookwood Community Church, God’s Pantry #8 and Salt and Light Ministries. When spare time allows, Dennis enjoys playing golf, walking and landscaping. We hear he’s pretty good at Sudoku, too. Is there a European River Cruise on the Danube in Dennis and Kandy’s future? Dennis says, “That would be my dream vacation!”

Stuart is one of the shuttle drivers for our Augusta Street location. He is originally from Huddersfield West Yorkshire, UK., but relocated to Greenville with his wife Anne Erin and his two sons Craig and Graham. Stuart is a retired electrical engineer who also has a passion for flying. While he does not fly anymore, Stuart used to avidly fly single-engine planes and gliders. He is a member of the Carolina Soaring Association and also attends the Greenville ARP church with his wife.

Bill is one of the shuttle drivers for our Augusta Street location. He is originally from Monaca, Pennsylvania but relocated to the Greenville area with his wife, Charlotte. Bill has two children, Jeffery and William, and enjoys photography and gardening. Bill wishes to one day travel to England, Scotland, and Ireland. Bill and his wife attend Earle Street Baptist Church.

Jim is a shuttle driver at our Butler Road location. He joined the North Hills Automotive team in 2017. His easy-going and friendly personality make him a natural for the role.

Paul comes to the North Hills auto team by way of Netcong, NJ. Paul and his wife MaryEllen have four grown children and seven grandchildren. When he’s not spending time being Grandpa, you’ll find Paul working as a customer service shuttle driver for our Butler Rd location.
